Laxatives should be avoided if possible, as they irritate the intestines and also negatively affect the intestinal flora.

In this post you will find natural solutions to constipation: 4 evening meals that are very healthy and promote bowel movement. Just try these menu suggestions yourself!

Why evening meals for constipation?

Evening meals are especially important to combat constipation, so you can easily check for yourself.

The liver is closely related to the intestines, and dinner has the greatest effect on the liver. This organ regenerates in the first hours of the morning.

An early, light dinner is therefore the first step against constipation. If you also choose the right foods that promote liver and intestinal functions, you will feel the benefits the next day.

Baked eggplant with tomato and mozzarella

Eggplants not only taste delicious, they also contain valuable fiber, which stimulates bowel movement, and they are rich in water. This berry, also known as egg fruit, has a filling effect and is highly recommended for high blood pressure and high cholesterol levels.

A healthy, easy and simple way to prepare eggplants is in the oven, but  before that they must be soaked in water with salt for at least an hour.

In this recipe, we suggest you refine the aubergine with chopped tomatoes and mozzarella. A thin layer of cheese is enough to make this dish irresistible. Simply season with a little oregano and basil.

Pumpkin cream soup with seeds

The pumpkin is high in fiber and also helps in the elimination of excess fluids from the body. This makes it an excellent option for swelling caused by constipation or fluid retention.

In the classic recipe, the pumpkin is simply boiled and mashed, giving it a wonderfully creamy texture. The best way to do this is to use sea water and add some olive oil, both of which also improve liver and intestinal functions.

Finally, add a few pumpkin seeds to the cream soup, these are not only very nutritious, they also help  against intestinal parasites,  which can also cause constipation.

Avocado cream with flax seeds

If you don’t feel like cooking in the evening, but still want to eat something healthy, this menu is just right. It is quick to prepare and tastes wonderful.

The preparation is similar to guacamole, but the dish is a little lighter and therefore better suited for dinner.

The avocado is rich in proteins, vitamins, essential fatty acids, and soluble and insoluble fiber – nutrients that promote bowel movement.

Simply mash an avocado with a fork and season with pressed garlic (or garlic powder), olive oil, apple cider vinegar and a little salt. Then add some flaxseed – this is an old home remedy for constipation.

You can eat whole grain bread or whole grain rice cookies with this cream.

Filled zucchini with whole grain rice

Zucchini contain plant mucilage, a type of fiber with emollient as well as  anti-inflammatory properties on the mucous membranes that quickly suffer from poor nutrition.

They also have a slight laxative effect and are therefore ideal for constipation and indigestion.

Use several round zucchinis for this recipe. You can then use elongated zucchinis and cut them lengthways. Like the aubergine, this recipe is prepared in the oven. Hollow out the zucchinis and fill with  wholegrain rice.

This contains valuable nutrients, minerals and fiber – an excellent and balanced dinner.

We recommend serving this dinner menu with a homemade sauce.
