Natural And Healthy Sweeteners

Three daily teas with stevia can help regulate blood sugar levels, so this home remedy is recommended for diabetics.

Natural and healthy sweeteners

White sugar can be found in a large number of foods, but it does not bring us any health benefits, on the contrary. In the long term, it can lead to a wide variety of complaints.

In this post we introduce you to various healthy alternatives to sweeten our dishes. You will find out which  sweeteners   are recommended for certain ailments (such as diabetes or obesity).  Do you know cane sugar, stevia, agave syrup, panela and cane molasses?

Brown sugar or cane sugar

Brown sugar is well known and readily available. Unlike white sugar, this is not refined   and therefore contains vitamins (vitamins A, B1, B2 etc.) and natural minerals from sugar cane or sugar beet. But it also depends on the manufacturing process, because z. T. is slightly colored white sugar by adding Melassenextrakt to sell him as brown sugar.  Brown sugar can be used for baking or for certain desserts, it is cheaper and healthier than white sugar, but not the healthiest alternative. The sweeteners presented below are more recommendable.

Sugar cane panel

Panela is created when the sugar cane juices evaporate. It is very common in Latin America and, like honey, has a balsamic and expectorant effect. So it is a natural remedy that is highly recommended with hot water and lemon for colds, flu or sore throats. In addition, sugar cane molasses contains 50 times more minerals than refined sugar. These include calcium, potassium, magnesium, copper, iron and phosphorus.

Bee honey

Bee honey is 25 times sweeter than sugar and also very tasty and nutritious. Honey is known as a natural antibiotic and has numerous healthy properties. It has an antiseptic, tonic, calming, laxative, diuretic and antibacterial effect. A spoonful a day is highly recommended, either neat or mixed with juice, yogurt or tea. It is important to consume raw, organic honey to actually benefit from its beneficial properties. Honey can also be used directly on the skin to heal wounds or burns.

Sugar cane honey

Sugar cane honey or molasses is so named because it is very similar to bee honey, even if the color is a little darker and the taste is stronger. The darker the molasses, the more active ingredients it has.

Molasses is rich in minerals and vitamins and is therefore recommended for athletes, children and patients with anemia, exhaustion, stress, etc.

Stevia

Stevia is a miracle of nature. This plant, originally from Paraguay, has a stronger sweetening power than sugar and also has many health benefits: It has a slight blood pressure lowering effect, improves dental health, blood circulation, digestion, etc.

Stevia has no calories and is therefore ideal for people who want to lose weight.

This sweetener is also very suitable for diabetics. It has been found that stevia can naturally regulate sugar levels with the ingestion of three cups of stevia tea per day.

In order to benefit from the advantages of this plant, we can use the powder, pure extract or even stevia leaves. If you want to sweeten with stevia but don’t like the taste (similar to liquorice), you can use a purified extract (clear). While it may not have as many therapeutic properties, it can be used as a zero calorie and non-toxic sweetener (such as sugar or artificial sweeteners like aspartame).

Agave syrup

Agave syrup is made from a type of cactus and has a similar texture to honey, but is very mild. This sweetener is also ideal for diabetics, as long as not too large quantities are consumed.  The glycemic index is low.

Like the sweeteners mentioned earlier, agave syrup has very healthy properties. Make sure, however, that it has been processed raw and at low temperatures.

It is ideal for sweetening teas, juices, shakes etc. and can also be used as a sugar substitute in numerous recipes.

If you suffer from an illness, we recommend that you always consult your doctor before consuming any new food.
